Me, Myself… And Everyone Else

Just a young Irish girl, looking for somewhere to share my poetry.

Finally, on to the first of the virtues in my Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues. I hope you enjoy it. I’ve decided to look at how, if you take these virtues to their extremes, they can actually be considered negative. I also have a page up the top, so if you want to you can easily view all of this series together.

She’s always there
To hold your hand,
Wipe the sweat from your brow,
And kiss it better.
Her smile calms storms.
Her arms are always open
For a hug.
She doesn’t care
Who the hand she holds
Belongs to.
It doesn’t matter to her
What face is behind
The problem she has to solve.
She treats all equally.
Soothes all regardless.
But who will pick her up
And kiss her injuries away,
When she falls?

Finally, the last sin in my Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues series. I’m  so glad to finally get this up. I hope you like it.

She craves the feel
Of many hands
Crawling all over her body.
Why should she
Be limited to just one?
Why does she have to choose?
She doesn’t care
If she gets ‘a name.’
She made
Her choices,
They made
She can never be loved enough.
Her body
Can never
Too much love.

Finally, a return to my Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues series! I know it has been long enough. In part this was because I was having a really hard time writing Envy and Lust. I just couldn’t be happy with them. And although admittedly they are still both nowhere close to how I want them to be, they are still a lot better than before. Hopefully I’ll have Lust up soon.

It is like a disease.
Desire she has.
Yet it is not Lust.
She desires that
Which is not hers to take.
She only wants him
Who does not belong to her.
And so
In this way,
By desiring only
That which she cannot have,
She resigns herself
To a life
With misery.

Very different from any of my original drafts. I hope you like it.

The third in my Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues series.

Rage is like
The water
Dripping from a leaky roof,
And she is
The bucket
Placed underneath to catch the droplets.
It starts off slowly.
But when left unattended
The leak begins to grow,
Until it becomes a torrent of hate.
And then
The water spills out,
Overflowing and staining everyone nearby.
It could have been prevented
If only
Someone had fixed the leak
Or changed the bucket.
But who cares about one dripping ceiling?

This is the second in my Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues series. I think I’m going to bring out one every two or three  days. I’m putting this one up early because I got some great feedback on the last one. I hope you like this one too.

As quickly as
They are put on the table
In front of her
She gobbles them up.
She no longer
Cares about taste or texture.
That was a
Of times gone by.
Now she simply consumes
To fill the empty
Space where her heart used to be.
She inhales. She does not
Bother to chew any more.

Ok, so I’m starting a new series of poems called Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Heavenly Virtues. Basically it’s what I imagine these would be like personified. They are all eighteen lines long, because that’s the number of lines in the notebook I was writing them in. I hope you like them.

She holds her head high:
Dark lashes frame
Exquisite green eyes.
She strives to perfect
Her perfections. She
Throws caution to the wind
As she aims ever higher.
And yet,
For all her great achievements
She has not one ounce
Of humility. While the
Winds of bravery and
Adventure blow her auburn locks,
She wants to shout out
“I did this!”
And carve her initials on the
Face of the earth
So everyone can tell she was there.

I will release these maybe one or two a week, until I have all fourteen up. I have a few more written, but I don’t want to put them all up at once, and a few of them need editing/revision. Maybe if I get enough comments or likes though, I will publish one of the ones I’m happy with… Who knows?
